UFC fighter Allan Nascimento has died after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep, the promotion announced on Tuesday (AEDT).
The 34-year-old Brazilian flyweight was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the UFC.
No further details surrounding his death have been released.
Nascimento’s most recent appearance came at a UFC Fight Night event in June, where he dropped a three-round decision.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Allan’s family, friends, teammates and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” the UFC said in a statement posted to Instagram.
Nicknamed “Puro Osso” (”All Bones”) because of his lean build as a teenager, Nascimento compiled a pro record of 22-7 and went 4-2 during his UFC career after signing with the promotion in 2021.
Both of his defeats inside the Octagon came via split decision.
He made his debut for the UFC in 2018 on Dana White’s Contender Series.
A respected member of the renowned Chute Boxe team, Nascimento trained under head coach Diego Lima and was widely regarded as one of Brazil’s toughest flyweights.
His passing has prompted an outpouring of tributes from across the MMA community.
