Demon marches on! Alex de Minaur powers into Wimbledon second week despite early setback

Alex de Minaur has continued his dazzling run at Wimbledon with a strong victory over emerging American Zac Svajda.

The world No. 6 dropped a set for the first time but performed admirably when too strong for Svajda, who recently reached the last 16 at Roland Garros, when triumphant 6-2 5-7 6-2 6-4.

The Australian star reached the second week at Wimbledon for the third time with the win and rallied strongly after dropping serve late in the second set.

A quarter finalist two years ago, de Minaur was able to secure a crucial break midway through the fourth set at 3-all and served out the triumph without trouble.

He faces the winner of a clash between Roland Garros finalist Flavio Cobolli and Karen Khachanov, twice a grand slam semi-finalist, on Monday.
