Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel has died as a result of injuries he suffered in a sickening collision with FC Andorra’s goalkeeper in a Spanish second division match, his club said Tuesday.
“We announce the tragic passing, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00am, of Jesus de Miguel Alameda,” Tenerife said in a statement.
“No words can ease the pain, nothing can lessen this great feeling of sadness. Our thoughts are with the family, his close friends and Tenerife fans, who today are grieving over this terrible news.”

De Miguel, 30, was fouled in the middle of the pitch by Equatorial Guinea international ‘keeper Jesus Owono, who had raced out of his goal.
Owono leapt into the air to contest the ball with his knee appearing to make heavy contact with De Miguel’s chest.
The incident happened in the 97th minute and Owono was awarded a straight red card. The match was subsequently abandoned with Tenerife up 2-0.
Spanish media said De Miguel suffered a cardiac arrest on the way to hospital in the ambulance and was resuscitated, but later died.
Former Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, Andorra’s majority shareholder, wrote on social media: “I am so deeply sorry. Rest in peace, Jesus.”
Other Spanish clubs have paid tribute to De Miguel.
“Our thoughts and support are with his family, friends and loved ones during these difficult times,” Barcelona said in a statement while Real Madrid sent “condolences and affection to his family, his teammates, his club, and all his loved ones”.
