The Bulls were dominated by Boston 134-99 loss to continue a bleak start to the season for Giddey and company.
Giddey had 11 points and four assists in 24 minutes of Tuesday’s road blowout (all times AEDT). It marked the Aussie’s highest scoring night for the season but lowest rebound and assist tallies.
Payton Pritchard’s 28 points off the bench led the Celtics and Jayson Tatum scored 23 as they improved to 2-1.
Norman Powell posted a team-high 20 points for Chicago and rookie Caleb Wilson added 17.
The 35-point loss marked the Bulls’ second-biggest loss of the season after they went down to Toronto by 43 in their first game.
The tests keep coming for Chicago with two upcoming clashes against reigning champions New York Knicks and Philadelphia, plus a rematch with Boston in the Bulls’ next five.
It was a tough day for the Aussies, with Dyson Daniels’ Atlanta Hawks dropping a second-straight game to the unbeaten Rockets in Houston 120-110.
Daniels put up just four points and four assists in his most quiet showing for the season, while Jock Landale posted eight points, six rebounds and four assists in 18 minutes off the bench.
Alperen Sengun (29 points, nine rebounds, nine assists, six steals) fell just shy of a triple-double to power Houston to its 4-0 start.
Meanwhile, an Antetokounmpo triple-double wasn’t enough for the Heat to overcome Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks.
Flagg hit a go-ahead layup with 10 seconds left to guide Dallas to the 113-109 road victory in the former No. 1 pick’s return from a shoulder issue.
Flagg racked up 29 points, six rebounds, 11 assists, five steals and three blocks in the win as the Mavs improved to 2-2.
Antetokounmpo totalled 29 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists in his first triple-double for Miami. But the team’s slow start to the season continued after the blockbuster trade for the superstar.
The Heat will look for their first win when they visit Atlanta on Thursday.
