Day 2 dawns with South Africa 2/20 from the 12.2 overs that were possible on the first day.
That was enough time for Scott Boland to vindicate his return to the team with two wickets in consecutive balls, dismissing star opener Aiden Markram and No.3 David Bedingham.

Debutant Marques Ackerman and captain Temba Bavuma dug in before the rain intervened, with the early forecast for the second day for yet more wild weather – bad news for any Australians hoping for an on schedule start at 6:45pm (AEDT).
However, the downpour is predicted to abate in the afternoon session, providing hope that Day 2 won’t be as badly rain-affected as the first day was.
The unseasonable weather, however, exposes the issues with playing Test cricket in South Africa in early October, with the majority of Australia’s tours of the country previously taking place in the February-April region.
