Jermell Charlo could finally share a fight card with Tim Tszyu — only with another Aussie standing across the ring.

Reports out of the US suggest the former undisputed super-welterweight champion is being lined up to feature on the proposed Tszyu vs Erislandy Lara card in Australia, which is expected to be announced for late November.

Gallen v Asofa-Solomona | Friday November 6 from 7pm AEDT | Australian sporting icon and crossover boxing king Paul Gallen returns to the ring to face his biggest opponent yet, Nelson ‘Big Nasty’ Asofa-Solomona. | Order now on Kayo Sports.

Brock Jarvis is among the potential opponents being mentioned, with other talented Aussie fighters also reportedly in the mix.

No opponent has been locked in, but adding Charlo would give the card another big draw as Tszyu chases world title glory.

And put a familiar name to Aussie fight fans back in the picture.

The reports come just days after Charlo’s twin brother, Jermall, withdrew from his October 17 fight against Australia’s Koen Mazoudier after reportedly suffering an injury in training.

No Limit confirmed the withdrawal, marking the second time Mazoudier has had a scheduled fight with Jermall fall through.

Jermell, meanwhile, has his own unfinished business with Tszyu.

The pair were originally scheduled to meet in January 2023, with the American’s undisputed super-welterweight championship on the line.

That fight was postponed after Charlo suffered a broken hand in training. He later moved north two divisions to challenge superstar Canelo Alvarez instead, leaving Tszyu to pursue his own path to world championship honours.

Their long-awaited showdown has never materialised, though both fighters remain interested.

Now, the possibility of both men fighting on the same bill would inevitably revive talks about whether they could finally throw down.

First, however, Tszyu has another massive job ahead of him.

The Aussie pay per view king has been pursuing a clash with Lara for the WBA middleweight championship, with victory offering the chance to become a world champ in a second weight division.

No Limit boss George Rose confirmed last month that negotiations with Lara’s team were progressing towards an Australian event before Christmas.

Those earlier plans centred on December, with the latest reports pointing to a late-November card.

Rose told Fox Sports Australia earlier this week that fight fans could expect “big announcements coming very soon.”

Adding Charlo to the Tszyu card would give the event another huge international name – and potentially hand an Aussie fighter a massive opportunity.

Charlo became undisputed champion by stopping Brian Castano in their May 2022 rematch, before his later move up to face Alvarez ended in a unanimous decision defeat.

His pedigree would make him a major scalp for whichever Australian gets the call.

It would also create an intriguing subplot for Tszyu, whose history with Charlo has followed him through years of postponed plans and talk of a future showdown.
