‘Everyone stay calm’: Terrifying scenes as UFC star collapses mid-fight, pulse checked

Raoni Barcelos has been rushed to hospital after collapsing inside the Octagon at a UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas on Sunday.

Barcelos appeared to lose consciousness during his fight with Raul Rosas in the main event of the evening at the UFC Apex.

UFC commentators shared their dismay as the live TV broadcast cut away from the Octagon as Barcelos received treatment.

He was motionless on the ground for more than one minute.

Medical officials were seen checking Barcelos’ pulse as he continued to be attended to.

“Someone cageside just confirmed to me that he did not see Barcelos wake up, and that the doctors checked for his pulse multiple times. Said he was making noises but didn’t wake up, everyone send prayers to Raoni Barcelos right now,” reporter Patrick Danna posted.

Medical officials then placed him on a stretcher and transported him outside of the venue.

According to reports, he has been transported to hospital and regained consciousness.

Leading MMA journalist Ariel Helwani reported Barcelos has been able to speak and move parts of his body.

“That main event ended in such a terrifying way,” he wrote on X.

“Very scary scenes involving Barcelos. Unclear what really happened.

“Raoni Barcelos is conscious, I’m told. He’s able to speak and is able to move his fingers and toes. He’s currently getting a CT scan at a local Vegas hospital.

“He’s out of the CT Scan, I’m told. No results yet but he’s able to speak and is able to move his body.”

His coach Davi Ramos said on social media: “Hey guys, Raoni is fine, everything is alright, everyone can stay calm, he just went to do the tomography now, but everything is fine, we are here waiting for him, everyone can stay calm, thanks?”

Rosas officially won the fight via a fifth round TKO.

Replays were inconclusive as to what would have prompted Barcelos to have suddenly stopped fighting.

He did not appear to suffer any major injury, however, he appeared to hit the back of his head as he had his legs swept out from under him as Rosas executed a take down.

Rosas appeared to be shaken by the incident and did not celebrate after an initial cheer.

He also said he would be praying for Barcelos during his interview inside the Octagon.
