The impressive start has seen him catch the eye of Octagon legend Jon Jones, who has become Steveson’s mentor, head coach and cornerman.
This time, though, the tables were spectacularly turned.
And watching ringside, Jones’ jaw hit the floor.
Steveson left the ring immediately after the fight, and was greeted by a chorus of boos.
Adding to the drama, the win was Sharaf’s first UFC victory at the third attempt.
Speaking with Joe Rogan post-fight, Sharaf hit back at the doubters.
“I’m not surprised, motherf***ers!” he said.
“I work so hard, I pray so hard. I believed in myself when nobody believed in myself.”
