Alexander Volkanovski’s next fight has officially been locked in.

The Australian sensation will be the headline act of UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi when he takes on Russian Movsar Evloev with his world featherweight belt on the line.

The showdown will take place on October 24.

The long-anticipated fight has been all but locked in for weeks, with Volk dropping a big hint while interviewing old foe Islam Makhachev ahead of his UFC 330 fight.

“It’s not signed – but it’s pretty obvious that is what it is going to be,” Volkanovski said.

“We pretty much just broke that [fight announcement]. It’s probably going to get me in trouble. But anyway …”

Boasting a 20-0 professional record, and 10-0 since making his UFC debut in 2019, the 32-year old is a major threat to Volkanovski’s 16-month reign as featherweight champion.

The 37-year old retook the belt with a win over Diego Lopes in April 2025, before defending his title against Lopes again in Sydney for UFC 325 in February.

With a 28-4 record, Volk’s status as one of the octagon’s greatest ever pound-for-pound fighters is already secure.

Evloev, meanwhile, has never had a title fight before, with injuries and a low finish rate counted against him.

But a reounding majority decision win over Lerone Murphy in March made his case to challenge Volk too compelling to ignore.

Having waited years for his chance, the Russian’s battle with the Australian icon will be career-defining, one way or another.

The UFC 333 card will also see Petr Yan face Merab Dvalishvili for the bantamweight title belt.
