Team Tips: Pies fans will be breathing a sigh of relief for Brayden Maynard, with scans clearing the vice-captain of serious damage to his knee. That doesn’t mean Maynard is a lock to play Geelong, however. The defender will be monitored throughout the week to see how he pulls up. If Maynard doesn’t get up, Sam Swadling likely slots straight back in as the unlucky omission last week. Swadling had 28 disposals in the twos, while Mitch Podhajski (five goals) and Jack Buller (2.5) also put their hand up at the lower level. But you sense the Pies will stick with Charlie West and could well go unchanged into Thursday night’s blockbuster. Lachie Schultz (ankle) is back running and shouldn’t be too far away.

Team Tips: A watch on Patrick Dangerfield after he looked sore but played out last week’s win over Melbourne. Should regain Sam De Koning (illness) after he was a late out, with the Cats in good health aside from long-term issues to Jeremy Cameron (shoulder) and Max Holmes (ankle). Not many obvious openings in Chris Scott’s 23, with Mitch Edwards and Jhye Clark potentially most vulnerable for the returning De Koning. Unless others are in need of a rest. Jack Bowes (34 disposals), George Stevens (32 touches, one goal) and Jack Martin (four goals) gave something for Scott and the selection committee to ponder with strong VFL performances.

Team Tips: After missing the Derby with illness, Hayden Young should be right to go to face the Bulldogs on Friday night. Finding a spot for him is no easy task, though, with Corey Wagner, who returned with 14 disposals in the win over West Coast, the potential unlucky omission. Key defender Brennan Cox should also be back after being managed against the Eagles, with Oscar McDonald likely to drop back out. In the WAFL, Sean Darcy couldn’t have hammered on the door any harder with a 23-disposal, 39-hitout performance in Peel Thunder’s eight-point win over Subiaco. But with a goal and 25 hitouts, Mason Cox will be difficult to leave out. The Dockers, remarkably, can all but seal top spot with three rounds left with a victory.

Team Tips: An injury-free weekend came as a blessed relief for the Bulldogs as they prepare for the toughest task in footy at the moment. In the VFL, an eye-catching two-goal, 18-disposal effort from Laitham Vandermeer on return from injury has put his name into contention for an AFL recall. With 26 disposals, Oskar Baker continues to dominate at the lower level, while Lachie McNeil responded to being omitted from the AFL team with 20 disposals, eight tackles and a goal. But Luke Beveridge would be forgiven for naming an unchanged team, with Jordan Croft (11 disposals and a goal) set to play a key role as third tall forward and Josh Dolan (five tackles) impressing. With just 12 disposals, Sam Davidson might make way if the Dogs decide to reward VFL form.

Team Tips: Luckless spearhead Max King didn’t even make it through three quarters in another cruel hamstring setback in his first game in nearly two years against North Melbourne. He’ll miss the rest of the season with a fresh strain of his left hamstring. It wasn’t the Saints’ only injury blow, with Rowan Marshall (neck spasm) ruled out minutes before the bounce and Cooper Sharman (managed) also a late withdrawal. The late blow to Marshall gave Anthony Caminiti a reprieve, while Sharman looks set to come straight back in for King. Jack Macrae (31 disposals), Liam Henry (29 touches) and Jack Carroll (29 disposals) were among their best in the VFL as other potential reinforcements, and Alix Tauru is free to return from his VFL suspension.

Team Tips: Pretty well settled after a dominant win over GWS as they slowly get closer to full strength. Joel Hamling (six goals), Corey Warner (32 disposals, one goal) and Angus Sheldrick (31 touches) were among their best in the VFL to press their case to return to the senior side, and Lewis Melican is also in the twos. Sam Wicks (hamstring) is closing in on his return, but Justin McInerney (hamstring) remains a few weeks off. Team Tips: An interesting selection call awaits Sam Mitchell after key forward Mitch Lewis sustained a concussion against Essendon. It shapes as a battle between the out-of-favour Calsher Dear and first-year impresser Aidan Schubert if Mitchell wants to stay tall up forward against North Melbourne. Schubert and Dear managed a goal apiece in the VFL at the weekend, but the former exerted more influence, taking seven marks from 14 disposals. After a strong body of work over the course of the season, and after being named an emergency for the Bombers game, it might finally be time for his shot at the top level this Saturday in Tasmania. Lewis is joined on the sidelines by emerging young defender Noah Mraz, who spent Saturday night in hospital with what turned out to be a low-grade kidney laceration. The Hawks say Mraz will miss “a number of weeks”, possibly reopening the door of opportunity to Will McCabe, who was an emergency for the Essendon game. Elsewhere in the reserves, Bodhi Ryan remains an option as a back-half rebounder, impressing with 25 possessions and eight intercepts, while Sam Butler was solid with a goal from 24 disposals. Karl Amon could be a week or two away from a return.

He was left coughing up blood after a hit to the chest, but the club was confident he didn’t have serious internal damage. Despite the disappointing finish to the game, Alastair Clarkson may not make too many unforced changes going into a big Tassie clash with Hawthorn on Saturday. In the reserves, Tom Blamires kicked a goal from 32 disposals and nine inside-50s, while swingman Wil Dawson booted 3.1 in a ruck-forward role. Rebounder Riley Hardeman, who was dropped last week, didn’t travel with the VFL team to Brisbane after being named an emergency for the AFL fixture. Midseason draftee Ollie Griffin was kept quiet in the twos, having also been named an emergency for the Saints game. Luke McDonald (calf) will be monitored this week after failing to prove his fitness last week.

Team Tips: A disappointing second-half fadeout against Brisbane, but Port at least got through the weekend without another injury setback. Second-gamer Balyn O’Brien was quiet in his second game and could get sent back to the lower level. No SANFL action on the weekend would make it tough for the Power to canvas reinforcements. But they could regain Jack Lukosius from a Baker’s cyst injury to help Josh Carr’s undermanned side fight out the remainder of the home and away season. Of their other sidelined stars, Joe Richards (finger) is the only other one who could make it back in 2026, while Zak Butters (ankle) will very much be racing the clock.

Team Tips: The Giants’ injury troubles have worsened, with Finn Callaghan on Monday ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious ankle setback. James Leake and Cody Angove were emergencies for the Swans clash and could be in the frame for a recall. Ruckman Kieren Briggs, though, could be right to return against Port Adelaide after a leg wound infection kept him out another week. Key forward Jake Riccardi (ankle) is also nearing his comeback, while livewire Darcy Jones (knee) could be back in the frame in a matter of weeks. Joey Delana, an emergency last week, was one of the reserves’ best at the weekend, kicking 2.1 from 22 disposals with six score involvements, eight tackles and six clearances. Team Tips: Ahead of a critical Super Saturday clash with Brisbane at Marvel Stadium, there’ll be another watch on Harry McKay and his meniscus injury. He couldn’t prove his fitness last week and will likely again be labelled a ‘test’, ahead of a clash where the Lions will almost certainly be without key defender Ty Gallop. If McKay can’t go, it’d likely be swingman Lewis Young again in attack. Jack Ison is also an option to pluck out of the VFL, while Liam Reidy waits in the wings if Josh Fraser wants to go taller, and Flynn Young is also on the precipice of another opportunity after being named an emergency for the Gold Coast game. One forced change, though, after Nic Newman devastatingly went down with a hamstring injury in his milestone game. There shouldn’t be many unforced changes, though wingman Ollie Hollands was industrious at VFL level, totalling 28 disposals, 10 marks, 10 tackles and seven intercepts. Zac Williams, who can’t get a look in, had 22 possessions and laid five tackles. Jacob Weitering is still multiple weeks away from the prospect of a return.

Team Tips: Depending on the Tribunal’s call, Ty Gallop is set to miss multiple weeks after being cited for serious misconduct against Port Adelaide’s Mitch Georgiades. It’s a considerable blow to Brisbane’s defence, with Gallop having played the last nine consecutive games in Fagan’s backline. The Lions could play smaller against the Blues, with Shadeau Brain and Darragh Joyce recording 12 and eight intercepts respectively at VFL level at the weekend. Alternatively, Cody Curtin was an emergency against the Power and could be thrown into defence. In terms of other potential inclusions, Oscar Allen was also among the emergencies as he plots an AFL return, but after going into their win against Port Adelaide unchanged, there’s no reason to think Chris Fagan will make many unforced changes this Thursday. Still, he might find it hard to ignore Will McLachlan’s eight (!) goals from 17 touches against North’s VFL side. Dan Annable, meanwhile, is getting his feet underneath him after an injury layoff, amassing 37 disposals, five clearances and a goal, while Sam Marshall had 29 touches. Injury-wise, Darcy Gardiner is still likely a week or two away from a return.

Team Tips: A better start still ended in another blowout loss for Richmond last Saturday, and there should be some changes at selection after four last Thursday. For starters, the Tigers sorely missed the presence of duo Ben Miller and Noah Balta in defence against the Bulldogs, and the club will hope at least one can return on Sunday. Miller (heel) had a timeline of one week and shapes as slightly likelier to play than Balta (toe), who was listed as ‘TBC’ last Tuesday. And up the other end of the ground, if he’s symptom-free, Steely Green will be eligible to return from a concussion against the Eagles. At VFL level, young midfielder Kane McAuliffe tallied 22 disposals and three inside-50s against Footscray as he looks for a way back into the senior team, while the ousted James Trezise had 20 touches and five marks. Judson Clarke has now played four VFL games since returning from his ACL injury, notching 16 disposals and six marks as he eyes a late-season AFL return.

Team Tips: Andrew McQualter is set to make a couple of changes as his Eagles prepare to travel east for a winnable clash with Richmond. Midseason draftee Oli Francou will unfortunately come out of the side and miss some time after suffering a nasty gash to his knee against the Dockers that’ll require plastic surgery. But in a welcome boost, captain Liam Baker is eligible to return from suspension against his former club. And speaking of ex-Tigers now playing for West Coast, Jack Graham is set to return to McQualter’s lineup and play Richmond on Sunday after being managed out of the Fremantle clash. In the WAFL, last year’s No.4 pick Cooper Duff-Tytler resumed his bid for an AFL return after overcoming his calf issue to dominate with four goals from 18 disposals. Young rebounder Josh Lindsay also made his return from injury in the reserves and collected 19 disposals and four marks. The Eagles could look to give veteran midfielder Elliot Yeo a spell this week after he managed one effective kick in 72 per cent game time against Fremantle. Harry Schoenberg was an emergency for the Dockers game, while young ball-winner Tom Gross put up 25 disposals and six inside-50s against West Perth at the weekend.

After one change last Thursday, he might feel more inclined to make a few more, as a few quality names potter around in the reserves. Caleb Lewis played just 35 per cent game time in the loss to Carlton and seems in danger of a relegation to the twos. Forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan made something of a statement in the VFL at the weekend, booting three goals from seven scoring shots against the Blues’ twos, also taking six marks from 16 disposals. Wingman Sam Clohesy had a game-high 32 disposals, while fringe small forward Jake Rogers had 24 possessions and three clearances, and out-of-favour midfielder Alex Davies had 21 touches. Veteran ruckman Jarrod Witts keeps toiling away in the twos, recording 18 disposals, seven tackles, five clearances and seven score involvements, and could be an option for a call-up.

Kade Chandler (hand), meanwhile, will be monitored throughout the week after coming to the bench in the dying stages of the loss to the Cats. Caleb Windsor should be right to return against Gold Coast after being held out of the Geelong game. Changkuoth Jiath could return from the leg issue that kept him out against Geelong, while Christian Salem got through another VFL contest and will again be in the selection frame after being named an emergency last Friday. Max Heath was dominant in the reserves in response to his axing with 20 disposals – 16 contested – seven inside-50s, five score involvements and nine free kicks won. Team Tips: Essendon will be forced into at least two changes for its Sunday afternoon clash with Adelaide, after luckless defender Jordan Ridley went down with a foot injury and Sullivan Robey with a knee issue. Scans revealed a minor Lisfranc joint sprain for Ridley – who the Bombers say is in “doubt” to play the Crows – and a partial medial ligament tear for Robey, who’ll miss at least this week and maybe longer. There might also be a watch on Archer Day-Wicks after he hobbled off against Hawthorn. In terms of inclusions, Kyle Langford is eligible to return from suspension, while Jye Caldwell should return after being managed; likely in place of Robey. Jade Gresham was a VFL standout with two goals from 24 disposals and five tackles, Elijah Tsatas was busy as usual with a game-high 34 possessions, while Zak Johnson (27 disposals, six marks) did some nice things off half-back. Archie Perkins added 27 possessions, while Darcy Parish was decent without setting the world alight, and Harry Jones had six intercepts in a defensive role.
