Cruz Hewitt has booked his spot in the Wimbledon juniors semi-finals after cruising towards a 6-1 6-2 straight sets victory at the All England Club on Thursday.

Facing ninth-seed Dimitar Kisimov from Bulgaria, the Australian only needed 53 minutes to secure the win, producing ten aces and 22 winners during the one-sided contest, with his famous parents watching from the stands.

But Hewitt will enter the match-up full of confidence after dealing with Kisimov the day after demolishing No. 2 seed Jamie Mackenzie on Wednesday (AEST).

The 17-year-old, son of tennis legend Lleyton, has now achieved his best-ever result at a major, becoming the first Australian to qualify for the last four of the Wimbledon boys’ event since Alex de Minaur in 2016.

Currently ranked No. 606 in the world, Hewitt has yet to drop a set in the competition, while he will face Dutch wunderkind Thijs Boogaard in the semi-finals on Friday. It comes after he demolished No. 2 seed Jamie Mackenzie in straight sets on Wednesday.

Hewitt’s father is the most recent Australian to lift the Wimbledon men’s title, having done so in 2002, while the last Australian to win the junior title at SW19 was Luke Saville in 2011.

“It’s incredible because I still remember when I was little, hitting on these courts, coming to watch my dad play, and all my family (are here), so it’s definitely nice,” Hewitt said.

“But it’s just another step. I don’t think the job’s done yet. I would love to play another good match, next match, and that’s all I’m focusing on.”

Hewitt’s semi-final against Boogaard commences on Friday at 9.10pm AEST.
