The Breakers had been in advanced discussions with Herbert, according to sources, as the club explored a high-profile appointment to lead them into the next NBL season.
Herbert, 67, is regarded as one of Europe’s most accomplished coaches, with a strong resumé across both club and international basketball. He has led major European programs including Bayern Munich and is best known for his success on the international stage, credentials that would have immediately lifted the Breakers’ profile.
