From Adelaide to the bright lights of the Chicago Bulls, Lachlan Olbrich has etched his name into the franchise’s history books with a remarkable performance in Monday (AEST)’s 149–139 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

Just days after earning his first NBA start, the 22-year-old produced his first career triple-double, joining an exclusive group of Bulls rookies alongside Michael Jordan, Kirk and Jay Williams.

In his second consecutive start, Olbrich finished with 10 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists and two steals, shooting an efficient 4-of-7 from the field.

Despite the result, it was a strong way to close the season for both player and team, with Chicago finishing 12th in the Eastern Conference at 31-51 and missing the playoffs.

Across 37 appearances, Olbrich averaged 9.3 minutes, 2.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists, splitting time between the Bulls and their G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls.

Still on a two-way deal, his trajectory remains firmly upward.

The 6’9 forward has enjoyed a rapid climb, winning a championship and MVP honours with the Canterbury Rams in 2024, followed by an NBL title with the Illawarra Hawks.

He was then selected 55th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft.
