Jake Paul has launched a blistering attack at Gervonta “Tank” Davis following the cancellation of their fight, branding the boxer a “walking human piece of garbage”.
The YouTuber turned prizefighter was scheduled to take on Davis in an exhibition match on November 14 in Miami.
Eubank Jr. vs Benn 2 | Sunday 16 Nov from 4am AEDT – estimated main event ring walk time 8:45am AEDT | Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn will come face to face once again, rekindling their family rivalry in a highly anticipated rematch | Order Now with Main Event on Kayo Sports.
However, the fight was scrapped on Tuesday after accusations of domestic violence, including battery and kidnapping, were leveled against Davis by an ex-girlfriend.
Paul’s team initially tried to find somebody to replace Davis on short notice, but with none available decided to cancel the event altogether.
“Our team has worked closely with all parties to navigate this situation responsibly,” Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions, said in a statement.
“While we will not be moving forward with this event, our plan still remains for Jake Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025.
“Details regarding a new date, location, Jake’s opponent, and additional bouts will be shared as soon as they are finalized.”
Following the announcement that the fight was off, Paul took to social media to unleash on Davis.
“Gervonta Davis is an actual walking human piece of garbage,” Paul posted to Instagram.
“Working with him is an absolute nightmare. The unprofessionalism, the bizarre requests, the showing up hours late to shoots. To the numerous arrests and related accusations and lawsuits.
“If you support this man, you support the most vile sin a man can commit.
“I didn’t want to give this woman abuser a platform to grow his fans and to grow his bank account. My company champions women.
Paul also apologised to his team and other fighters who had prepared to fight on the card.
“I’m so sorry to everyone involved. Mostly to the undercard fighters, to my team at MVP and to my team who worked so hard prepping for this fight,” he wrote.
“Sacrificing time with loved ones and kids just for this fool to lose his unintelligent mind again.
“It’s scary that devilish men like this can rise to the top of culture and sports, including in positions of power.”
Ngannou has since indicated that he has turned Paul’s team down.
“No, there’s no such thing happening,” Ngannou told TMZ sports.
“Basically, how can they go from Gervonta Davis to Francis Ngannou? Gervonta Davis is a fantastic boxer and is a one-shot knockout artist, but come on.
“We’re way different. It makes no sense. Gervonta Davis, you come, you say, ‘OK, the size difference can level up.’ [But] at this point, for me, it makes no sense.

“Yes, they reached out the other day and told me how they need a replacement for Gervonta, and after I listened, I wasn’t getting it, and I said, ‘OK, what can I do for you?’ They said, ‘We’re looking for a replacement,’ but I still didn’t get it.
“‘OK, what exactly can I do for you?’ He was like, ‘We are thinking about you to fight Jake to replace Gervonta.’ ‘Which Jake?’ I was so confused. I wasn’t expecting that at all.
“I’m like, ‘No, bro. Come on. Don’t disrespect me like that.’”
