Ange Postecoglou is unconcerned about any “negativity” coming his way if Nottingham Forest loses Saturday’s Premier League match against Burnley, but acknowledged that victory would keep pressure off his players.

The Australian has started his tenure as Nottingham Forest manager with two losses – a heavy 3-0 defeat against Arsenal and an agonising 3-2 loss to Swansea in the Carabao Cup. Forest were seemingly cruising at 2-0 up in the 67th minute before Swansea stole victory from the jaws of defeat with three late goals, including two during injury time.

Postecoglou, still searching for his maiden win at Nottingham Forest, declared he could handle any personal criticism that might come his way if the club suffers a third-consecutive defeat at Turf Moor this weekend.

“There has been a negativity around my arrival since I came to the Premier League. It is the constant space I am in. But it is not about me,” Postecoglou told reporters on Friday.

“It is important that we win on Saturday. Not for me. But because we have lost the last two games in the Premier League. Every game in the Premier League is tough and you never want to be in a position where you have not won, because then you can start chasing the game a little bit.

“We want to get some points on the board and start moving in the right direction.”

Postecoglou added that star defender Murillo was “still a bit sore”, putting him in doubt for Saturday’s contest.

“This is the nature of the business we’re in,” he said.

“You are always going to get some disruptions along the way, so thankfully it’s not too serious. If he doesn’t make tomorrow, he should definitely be right for Wednesday.”

The Premier League game between Burnley and Notting ham Forest gets underway at 12am AEST on Sunday morning.
