In the second over of the match, the Australian opener walked across his crease and nailed a lap shot against Adam Milne over fine leg for six.
“That’s just outrageous,” former New Zealand cricketer Mark Richardson said in commentary.

However, Smith didn’t last much longer, copping a brutal inswinger from Black Caps speedster Lockie Fergsuson and departing LBW for 11.
Australia is 1-53 in the fifth over.

Earlier, New Zealand captain Mitch Santner won the toss and chosen to bowl first. Australia made three changes to its starting XI, with Steve Smith, Nathan Ellis and Matthew Wade replacing David Warner, Matthew Short and Mitchell Starc.
