AFL Pre-Season Teams: Magpies, Roos unveil recruits but GF stars sidelined amid injury woes

Collingwood star recruit Lachie Schultz and North Melbourne inclusion Zac Fisher will be unveiled as the clubs square off in a televised match simulation on Wednesday morning.

Schultz missed last week’s intraclub due to copping studs to the back of his knee but will feature at the AIA Centre, along with Josh Daicos as he returns from a difficult pre-season which included back, calf and Achilles issues.

Nathan Murphy (ongoing concussion issues), top draftee Harry DeMattia (finger tendon), Brody Mihocek (calf) and Brayden Maynard (shoulder surgery) will be unavailable but the latter two are aiming at gametime in next week’s Community Series clash with Richmond.

Star draftee Colby McKercher will line up against the reigning premier, while fellow 2023 draftee Riley Hardeman will also take to the field.

Also named is Sydney recruit Dylan Stephens for his first official hitout as a Kangaroos player.

Paul Curtis will play after being given the all clear to return from an ankle sprain, which he suffered at training last week.

In other games, Essendon will be without Peter Wright and Sam Draper for its clash with St Kilda on Friday.

Carlton’s Sam Walsh won’t play on Thursday against Geelong due to back soreness which he reported after their intraclub last week.

All AFL pre-season matches can be watched live on Fox Footy, via Foxtel and Kayo Sports.

Squads for the remaining matches will be released at 5pm (AEDT) the day before.
