‘Crying, immature brat’: Nikita Tszyu slams Aussie champ Dylan Biggs in explosive, tense face off

Nikita Tszyu has branded Australia’s youngest boxing champion Dylan Biggs an immature “brat” – and questioned his team’s retelling of their infamous 2021 sparring session – while also defending his right to walk out second in what shapes as the biggest fight of his undefeated career.

In an intriguing ‘Face Off’ interview to promote Wednesday night’s national title shot at Newcastle Entertainment Centre, both Tszyu and Biggs have exchanged words over everything from walkouts and sparring sessions to the phrase ‘Baby Tszyu’.

With Main Event Ben Damon’s sat between them, Biggs also again took aim at a contentious Tszyu promotional video, which shows his rival eating raw meat and hurling a steak knife at the champ’s image, branding it “stupid”.

Tszyu, meanwhile, accused the Queenslander of “crying” over the ongoing walkout drama.

As first revealed by Fox Sports Australia, Team Tszyu are suggesting that, as the major draw, it should be Nikita who walks last for Wednesday night’s Main Event headliner in ‘Tszyucastle’.

Biggs, meanwhile, is vowing to walk out last – as is his right, as champion – and has suggested he will wait in his dressing room as long as it takes for that to happen.

Discussing exactly that in their interview with Main Event’s Ben Damon, Tszyu said: “I’ve heard you were going to do a little Mexican stand off.”

“We’ll see,” Biggs replied.

Tszyu: “Whenever you get the call, that’s when you go out. Simple.”

Asked by Damon if there was a chance Biggs would wait, the champ said: “Definitely, I’m stubborn

“So you’ll tarnish the event simply on pride?” Tszyu asked.

“Yeah I would,” Biggs replied.

“Wow,” Tszyu shot back. “Wow.

“I guess you’re 21 years old. Still a little immature.

“When I hear ‘it’s your turn to walk’, I walk.

“I’m not going to act like a little brat and have a little cry over pride. When I get the call ‘it’s your time to walk, I go for it’.

Biggs: “It’s not pride, it’s tradition”.

Elsewhere, also responded strongly when Tszyu suggested he had questioned his record, and suggested he was fighting ‘nobodies’.

“I said they quit,” the champ said.

“I didn’t say they were no ones.

“They turn up on the night, but they don’t turn up.

“Do you want me to elaborate?

Tszyu: “Yes please.

Biggs: “They turn up on the night, but they don’t turn up to win

“They’re afraid.

“And they don’t turn up.

“It’s the show, the bright lights …”

So does Biggs feel like he is the A side?

“In my head I’m definitely the A side,” he said.

“But like Nikita said in previous interviews, we’re under management.

“It’s not part of what we do.

“I’m there to fight and there’s only two people who get in the ring.

“So whether they get in the ring first or second, it doesn’t make much of a difference.”

Would you feel disrespected if asked to walk first?

“Definitely,” he continued.

“I feel like it’s dishonoring tradition.

“I understand the premise behind him walking out second but the belt should mean more than his last name.

“We’re fighting for the title, that’s what it is about.”

Nikita?

“I couldn’t care less,” he deadpanned.

“I just listen to the one word ‘you’re up’ …”

“That’s two words,” Biggs interrupted.

“It’s not about what I want to do,” Tszyu said when going again. “It’s about what the promoters want to do.

“It’s their event.

“(But) the champion hasn’t gone out second every single time.

“There have been multiple instances where the champion goes out first.

“It’s simply just a business decision.”

And as for ‘Baby Tszyu’?

“That’s a weird thing to say,” Nikita said.

“You can’t talk about weird things to say,” Biggs deadpanned.

Asked about their old sparring session, Tszyu said: “I’ve been told your team has been over dramatizing that moment.

“Saying … I heard one where I was dropped with a body shot, rolling on the floor, crying.

Biggs: “Every person I’ve told has been the same story – you went down, got back up”.

Tszyu: “Maybe you, but your team …”

Biggs: “People are going to spread rumours. I don’t know what you want me to do about that?”

Tszyu: “It’s your team.

Biggs: “But if you haven’t heard it from my mouth you can’t judge me on it.”

Tszyu: “It’s your team, that’s what I’m saying. Your team has been over exaggerating the moment.”

Biggs: “Cool.”

Asked again about the Tszyu promo clip, which Biggs branded cringey earlier in the week, the said: “I thought it was stupid.

“Cringey was the word,” Tszyu interjected.

“I said cringey and stupid,” Biggs replied.

“And I stand by that.

“I wasn’t a fan of it.”

Tszyu: “What did you find stupid about it? Or cringey?

Biggs: “The eating raw meat. The whole vibe behind it really. It was just strange.

Tszyu: “It’s not something I’m proud to expose or show.

“But I have been eating raw foods, raw organs.

“It’s not stupid.

“It’s a dramatization of what my personality is like …”

Biggs: “I get that. But I stand by what I say.

Tszyu: “So are you having a dig at the filmmakers or my philosophy of life?”

Biggs: “That’s a good question.

“I’m not too sure.

“I’d say the video in general.”

Tszyu: “So the filmmakers?”

Biggs: “I could say both really.”

Tszyu: “Interesting”.

And as for throwing a steak knife at that image of his face?

“Silly,” he said.

“I get it, we’re fighters and aggression is part of the game.

“And that’s cool.

“It is what it is.”

Tszyu: “It’s a dramatization to emphasise emotions.

“Going throw my head, my mind.

“And I got so many great reviews.

“People saying how much they loved it.

“It was one of the only promotional videos that I’ve watched and thought ‘that was cool’.

“So I couldn’t care less if you think it’s cringey or stupid.

“I thought it was dope.”

And Biggs

“I wouldn’t make a video like that,” he said.
