The UFC world is in shock after Sean Strickland dominated Israel Adesanya in one of the greatest championship boilovers in history.
“This will be the biggest upset in UFC 185 pound title fight history if Strickland gets it done,” ESPN’s Brett Okamoto said with a round to go.
And Strickland did, winning four rounds to one on all three judges’ scorecards.

After the result was read out, Adesanya was all class, immediately clapping for his opponent. The beaten champ then embraced his rival for a lengthy period of time and spoke with Strickland, who appeared emotional at Adesanya’s words.
Adesanya then raised Strickland’s hand and invited the crowd to cheer for the new champion.
Despite plenty of verbal jabs at Adesanya this week, Strickland was gracious in victory, saying: “You guys know, Izzy’s a bad motherf***er. You don’t fight that guy with that many highlight-reel knockouts.
“He’s beat – the majority of my friends he’s beat pretty easily. I was even kind of doubting myself at times.”
Plenty of MMA fans praised Adesanya for his classy response to the one-sided defeat. But the overwhelming reaction from fellow UFC fighters was utter disbelief – and praise for Strickland’s performance for the ages.
