Wrestling legend Terry Funk has died at the age of 79.
The legendary athlete had been battling dementia in recent years and lived in an assisted living facility.

His professional career commenced in the 70s before he rose to prominence in the United States in the 80s.
He had stints across the NWA, WCW, ECW and WWF throughout his historic career that saw him capture multiple world titles.
He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame alongside his brother Dory in 2009.
Tributes from all over the wrestling industry poured in after news of Funk’s passing was announced.
Ric Flair wrote: “In My Entire Life, I’ve Never Met A Guy Who Worked Harder. Terry Funk Was A Great Wrestler, Entertainer, Unbelievably Fearless, And A Great Friend! Rest In Peace My Friend Terry Funk Knowing That No One Will Ever Replace You In The World Of Professional Wrestling!”
The WWE posted: “WWE is saddened to learn that WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk has passed away at the age of 79. WWE extends its condolences to Funk’s family, friends and fans.’
Bully Ray Dudley posted: “There are no words. God Bless Terry Funk.”
Triple H wrote: “Every night in cities all over the world, Terry Funk left it all in the ring for our business and for the fans. An icon of our industry. My thoughts are with Terry’s family, friends and fans.”
Funk made the switch into movies as he appeared alongside Patrick Swayze in the classic bar brawling action film Road House.
He was a trailblazer within the industry and will long be remembered as one of the ultimate showmen.
His battles against Mick Foley will live on in wrestling folklore.
Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer summed up his legacy when he wrote: “It goes without saying he was one of the greatest wrestlers who ever lived.”
