Breakout Australian boxing star Paulo Aokuso has thrown his first Australian headliner into chaos after weighing in heavy by 200 grams on Tuesday.
As part of his push to become world champion quicker than even Hall of Famer Jeff Fenech, Aokuso is set to face Renold Quinlan at the Entertainment Quarter in Sydney on Wednesday night.
The event is the first of three No Limit Fight Shows set to be shown over the next month, with the 26-year-old looking to take his unbeaten career start to five straight wins.

However, weighing in on Tuesday, Aokuso hit the scales heavy at 79.66kg.
The official light heavyweight limit is 79.4kg.
Quinlan, meanwhile, tipped the scales at 79.24kg.
Immediately afterwards, Quinlan said he had no problem with his younger rival missing weight saying “he can lose it, keep it, doesn’t matter to me”.
He then promised to upset Aokuso just as he did Jack Bowen last year, a fight that was later crowned Australian boxing’s 2022 Upset of the Year.
However Fox Sports Australia can reveal that, once the weigh-ins finished, Team Quinlan demanded that Aokuso weigh in again, and make the limit, or the fight will be off.
Speaking within an hour of both fighters hitting the scales, Quinlan’s manager Gus Wahab said that — should the undefeated Aokuso need shed the required weight — the only other option was for Aokuso to give 60 per cent of his fight purse to his client.
“Obviously the deal initially struck was that both fighters come in on weight,” Wahab said.
“But they also said that if ‘Ren’ came in over, they would get 60 per cent of his purse.
“Well, now that’s come back to bite them on the arse.
“Paulo Aokuso has come in heavy by over 200 grams. And If he can’t make the weight, then Ren needs to be compensated.
“He’s done the hard work.
“So it should be us getting 60 per cent of his purse.
“At the press conference, Paulo was joking about Renold having been in Bali, but it looks like it’s him that has been on holiday.
“I’ve spoken with their team and they expect us to sit back and just say ‘OK, it’s all good’.
“So if he doesn’t want to weigh-in again, it’s going to become a financial situation.”
Aokuso, meanwhile, initially shrugged off the weigh-in drama and said he would be sure “to make sure it doesn’t happen again”.
“So he can say whatever he likes,” he said of Quinlan, before suggesting the headliner would definitely be going ahead and that “tomorrow night, I retire him”.
However, promoters No Limit are currently meet with members of both camps to decide if the breakout star will be made to weigh-in again.
The Aokuso miss was part of a drama-filled event that saw three of the four fights involve athletes weighing in heavy.
In the co-main, returning super welterweight Jack Brubaker made weight – but only after removing a black cowboy hat he had worn onto the scales.

Speaking only 24 hours earlier at the Monday press conference, both Brubaker and rival Troy O’Meley had said the winner of their Wednesday night fight should be catapulted straight into a showdown with Nikita Tszyu.
Sat on stage with the fighters, No Limit CEO George Rose said he would be happy to make that happen so long as the winner was able to turnaround in time for Tszyu’s next fight.
But O’Meley may have lost his chance at a Tszyu showdown after weighing in well over the agreed upon catchweight of 70.85kg.
Instead, he weighed 73.12kg.
Meanwhile, Brubaker also initially came in slightly heavy at 70.94kg – but then removed his cowboy hat and dropped to 70.72kg.
“The scales in the sauna were a bit off,” O’Meley shrugged afterwards when asked about the drama.
He also admitted that having had two fights booked, and then cancelled recently had also played havoc with this week’s weight cut.
Brubaker was far from impressed however, adding: “You can’t be calling out Nikita (Tszyu) and then coming in two kilos over.
“It’s unprofessional to come in that far over.
“A couple of hundred grams between friends isn’t too bad, but that’s unprofessional.”
Both teams were also in discussions with No Limit.
Elsewhere on the undercard, super welterweight Ankush Hooda also weighed in slightly heavy for his bout against Isaias Sette – and will likely have to weigh in again.
