The former partner of Australian boxer Harry Garside has been arrested and charged with domestic violence, months after an assault charge against Garside was dropped.
Ashley Alsione Ruscoe was arrested in Sydney’s south-after eastern suburbs on Wednesday before being charged with two domestic violence-related offences.
In a statement, NSW Police said the 35-year-old had been arrested following an investigation by officers into allegations of a domestic violence incident.
“Officers conducted an investigation in an alleged domestic violence incident at a Bellevue Hill home on Wednesday March 1, 2023,” police said.
“Following further inquiries, police attended the Bellevue Hill home about 4.45pm on Wednesday, and arrested a 35-year-old woman.
“She was taken to Waverley Police Station and charged with common assault (DV) and stalk or intimidate intend cause fear physical etc harm (DV).”
Ms Ruscoe was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on July 19.
The arrest comes just months after Mr Garside’s charge was dropped after his defence team told a court a video showed Ms Ruscoe as the alleged aggressor.
The Olympic medallist was arrested after arriving at Sydney Airport from Johannesburg on May 2 after a stint on reality TV show I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!
The charge related to allegations made by Ms Ruscoe that her former partner had assaulted her between 4pm and 7pm on March 1 at a property in Bellevue Hill.
Mr Garside categorically denied the allegations throughout the court battle, telling TV show host David Koch it was his “boy to man” moment.
The pair began dating in 2019, but separated 18 months later.
