Nikita Tszyu needed less than a round to dispose of Benjamin Bommber as the latter was even tackled to the ground by the referee in a preventive measure.

Tszyu secured his sixth win as a professional with a first round knockout of Bommber, who was handed his first loss in his career.

Walking out to the Village People’s ‘YMCA’, Tszyu looked extremely relaxed from the onset, but it was Bommber who landed the stronger punches first.

The 21-year-old fired a solid straight right hand in the opening 30 seconds that certainly caught Tszyu’s attention.

Bommber then landed another strong combination inside the first minute, but it was good as it got for the Victorian fighting in front of his home crowd.

His early strikes clearly kicked Tszyu into gear, as the Sydneysider exploded to life and unleashed a brutal barrage of strikes, including a monster uppercut, that sent Bommber into the ropes.

It looked as if Bommber was out on his feet, but he valiantly kept his legs.

Yet it delayed the inevitable, as Tszyu fired off at will before the referee intervened and tackled Bommber to the canvas and waved off the contest to prevent any further unnecessary damage.

Speaking on commentary, Main Event’s Ben Damon was left in awe of what the younger Tszyu had just produced.

“What a statement that is,” Damon said.

“Brutal stuff from Tszyu. Left hand off the back of an uppercut.”

Damon added: “Benjamin Bommber is one tough dude.”

Speaking in his post-fight interview, Tszyu claimed his “instincts” took over once he noticed Bommber was struggling.

“If I see someone wounded, I want to hurt them,” Tszyu said.

“It’s just instincts.”

When asked who he’d like to fight next, he had a hilarious answer that certainly would have spelled danger.

“There’s one person in this arena that I’ve had my eye on, and that’s Tyson Fury, the Gypsy King,” Tszyu said.

However, he cheekily added: “Just joking, don’t kill me!”
