Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia successfully made weight as Davis clashed with Hall of Famer Bernard Hopkins in heated scenes on Saturday [AEST].

Garcia was the first of the two to step on the scales ahead of Sunday’s main event, weighing in at 135.5 pounds (61.5kg) for the pair’s 136-pound (61.7kg) catchweight fight.

Davis stepped up next, with the 28-year-old tipping the scales at 135.1 pounds (61.3kg).

There was some drama after the pair weighed in as both Davis and Garcia exchanged words on the stage. Davis then shoved Garcia as his opponent then returned the favour, with the two swiftly separated before anything went too far.

Davis was also pictured in argument with Hopkins during the final face-off, explaining what was behind the heated discussion when speaking to Showtime Boxing.

“He was talking about he’s ‘about that life’. Nobody’s worried about his old arse, he needs to sit back and let the young’uns do it,” Davis said.

Fireworks are expected inside the ring on Sunday, with Garcia finishing four of his last five fights with a single punch while Davis also boasts serious knockout power, doing the same in three of his past six bouts.

“Punishment, knockout,” Davis said when asked what he expects of the fight.

“It’s going to be crazy. Don’t blink your eyes, don’t get no popcorn, don’t get no drinks, none of that. Make sure you’re focused on the fight because it’s going to be an incredible fight.”

Garcia noticed the exchange between Davis and Hopkins but told Showtime Boxing that his full focus was on making a statement on Sunday.

“I think him and Bernard started getting into and it got crazy, but I’m focused,” Garcia said.

“I’m ready to eat now. I’m focused,” he says. “I’m ready to destroy him, that’s it.”
