‘He’s trembling’: Tszyu’s rival exposes massive problem at weigh-ins

TONY Harrison says a “nervous” Tim Tszyu isn’t ready to carry the weight of a nation – and that famed surname – into his debut world title blockbuster, warning: “He’s trembling”.

As he has done all week, Harrison proved to be the loudest voice at Saturday’s world title weigh-in – the last public appearance before he and Tszyu throw down for the WBO interim super welterweight strap.

On the scales, Australia’s boxing face was slightly heavier at 69.68kg.

Harrison, meanwhile, was 69.62kg.

Yet afterwards, his words once again proved loudest.

After announcing himself as an honorary Australian – and stressing every ticket at Qudos Bank Arena had been sold because of him – the Detroit native then took aim at his rival.

Asked about the lead up, and the fact Australian sports fans had embraced him, Harrison said: “The real gravitate to me, man.

“I’m a hard guy not to like.

“A hard guy not to love.

“Everything I speak, I believe.

“And when you believe it, you put it on wax. And tomorrow I’m going to be able to put it on wax and show everybody why I am the baddest fighter in the world.”

So as for the face off?

“Tim’s been nervous all week, man,” he said.

“He’s been trembling and shaking all week.

“Like I said, the hardest part for both fighters is making weight, it’s literally the hardest.

“But he made it. I made it.

“He’s able to rehydrate, he’s saying he is going to come into this fight massive. You know, that don’t matter.

“He can come in at 190 for all I give a damn.

“We both weighed in the same.

“That’s all that matters to me.”

Better, Harrison insists he is the A-side.

“I know I sold every ticket that’s been bought,” he said, smiling. “It’s because of the energy Harrison has brought to the arena, you know what I mean?

“So I’m gonna bag it up tomorrow.

“I know you think I’m talking s… half the time but I’m going to bag it up tomorrow.”

Asked if really believed every ticket had been sold because of him, he cackled: “Every one of them.

“They here to see me not him.”

And as for Tim trembling?

“Trembling because he was nervous,” Harrison explained.

“There’s a thing called good nerves and bad nerves.

“I seen nerves. I never sad bad nerves. I said nervous.

“This event is everything for him. He has the weight of the world on his shoulders.

“Is he going to be able to carry it tomorrow?

“I don’t think so.”

Speaking moments earlier, Tszyu stressed his weight cut had been much easier than for previous fights.

“I’m ready man, ready to go,” he said.

“My body feels in the best shape it’s ever been.

“The whole lead up has brought me to this moment.”

Importantly, the Sydneysider said he brought a different mentality to this fight compared to Harrison, a former world title holder.

“He’s been there, done that,” Tszyu said.

“And the energy is different when you’ve been there and done that (compared to) when you’re on the rise, on the grasp of something special.

“It’s a different mentality in the approach and the preparation.

“I’m just ready, this is my moment.”

So as for what the Aussie took from the staredown?

“It was fun,” Tszyu said. “It’s always fun looking into your opponent’s eyes.

“Because you’re both ready to go.

“Two pitbulls ready to go.

“I’m pumped for this.”

And as for a final word, as always, from Harrison?

“Treat me like I’m home,” he grinned. “Because baby, I’m home.”
