Broncos winger Corey Oates has suffered a suspected broken jaw after copping an ugly blow from Cowboys fullback Scott Drinkwater.
While attempting to ground the ball, Drinkwater collected Oates’ jaw and was sent to the sin bin by Ashley Klein.
According to Fox League’s Corey Parker, Oates was assessed by medical staff after attending a nearby hospital.
While the severity of the injury is uncomfirmed at this stage, the 28-year-old could be facing a sideline stint of four to six weeks.

LUCKLESS EELS ROOKIE SUFFERS ANOTHER SETBACK
Sean Russell has reportedly suffered a shoulder injury and will not play again this season.
Wacko’s Whispers reported on Friday that the Eels winger will need surgery on the injury.
Russell was initially named in the 17 on Tuesday to face the Sharks, but was cut from the squad to make way for Bailey Simonsson, who made his return from a shoulder injury.
The 20-year-old did not, however, drop back to play New South Wales Cup.
The club is yet to confirm the injury, but it would be a cruel blow for Russell, who has had an unlucky run of injuries — including a fractured rib and punctured lung last season.
PANTHERS FACE NERVOUS WAIT ON STAR DUO
Panthers superstar Nathan Cleary will undergo scans on Friday after suffering an ankle injury against South Sydney on Thursday.
The gun halfback fell awkwardly after Brian To’o fell out of a tackle only moments before the half time siren sounded.
Penrith scored a breakaway try on the strike of half time but instead of kicking the conversion Cleary could be seen running down the tunnel to get treatment.
Vision inside the Panthers’ changerooms also showed club medical staff treating Cleary’s ankle and strapping the injury Fox League’s Cooper Cronk labelled a “high ankle” issue.

“Friendly fire from To’o the minute before the last try, pictures determining it is a high ankle sprain,” Cronk said.
“They must be a little worried, the doctor the physio, all there doing the tests,” Cronk added.
Mick Ennis, meanhwile, said Cleary was “limping hard”.
While Cleary returned for the second half, Panthers coach Ivan Cleary said he would undergo scans to assess the damage.
They (the medical workers) didn’t seem too worried at half-time after they looked at it,” Cleary said after the Panthers’ 16-10 victory
“We’ll have to assess it (on Friday).
“Might be a good time for a bye next week, considering.”
It was later revealed that Cleary’s halves partner Jarome Luai had also suffered a foot injury. He was spotted after the game in a moon boot.
“I can’t remember who did it. It’s just blown up a bit, but we’ve got the week off so it’ll be sweet,” he told NCA Newswire.
“I think it happened in the first half. It’s a blessing in disguise (we have the bye).”
