Finally… WWE takes leap forward into normality as live fans return for first time in 17 months

WWE will finally welcome back fans this weekend as it heads on the road for the first time in 17 months.

The American pro wrestling juggernaut has been producing shows at its own venues and in Florida since the start of the pandemic last March, including at the ThunderDome which featured hundreds of video screens surrounding the ring.

Wrestlers and fans alike have been eagerly anticipating the return of live fans, who add an unreplaceable energy to proceedings and make matches better.

But for the first time since March 9, 2020, this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown (Saturday 10am AEDT, live on Fox8) will see a live crowd in attendance.

Edge teams up with Rey and Dominik Mysterio to face Roman Reigns and The Usos while Bianca Belair defends the SmackDown Women’s Title against Carmella on the show.

Then a capacity crowd will witness Money in the Bank on Sunday (Monday AEDT) plus the post-MITB edition of Monday Night Raw (Tuesday AEDT).

This year’s WrestleMania had a less-than-full-capacity crowd but due to the US’ successful vaccination program, the country is now opening up.

Watch WWE live on Foxtel including pay per views on Main Event!
