Edge is going to WrestleMania.

The WWE Hall of Famer entered at number one and went the distance, last eliminating rival Randy Orton – who came out of nowhere having disappeared for most of the match – to win the 2021 Royal Rumble.

It’s Edge’s second career Royal Rumble triumph, and could still see him face Orton at WrestleMania, as long as Orton wins a world title before then. That seems likely.

Seth Rollins made his return at number 29 while Carlito, Kane and Christian all made shock appearances.

On the women’s side, favourite Bianca Belair won the Royal Rumble after entering at number three, lasting over 56 minutes.

Australia’s Rhea Ripley made her surprising return at number 14 and was the other member of the final two, after eliminating seven women during the match.

On the undercard, 54-year-old Hall of Famer Goldberg failed in his bid to capture Drew McIntyre’s WWE Championship.

The match was your typical Goldberg/Lesnar match in this era – all finishers and big moves, and not lasting too long – and saw McIntyre kick out of two consecutive spears as well as the Jackhammer.

Roman Reigns successfully defended his Universal Championship against Kevin Owens in a Last Man Standing match. Bizarrely, the match was full of violence and high-flying crashes through tables, yet it ended on a submission hold.

On the pre-show, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler regained the Women’s Tag Titles from Asuka and Charlotte Flair, thanks to interference from Ric Flair and Lacey Evans.
